An indoor arena is a fixed business with a fixed space, so the equipment has to keep up with session after session. This checklist covers every piece you need, using our Alphatag Arena sets as the worked example. Tick each line before you open.
1. Players’ kits: blaster and sensor
- A blaster for every player. Arena blasters are built for the dark and close quarters. The PULSAR blaster has a colour display readable in complete darkness, team lighting, soft bumpers and a battery that lasts up to 50 hours.
- A vest or headband for every player. The DEFENDER vest connects to the PULSAR with no cable. In Alphatag Arena you can also use X-shaped headbands (Quick start kits) and mix both in one arena.
- Spares. Our Alphatag Arena sets include extra PULSAR blasters as a gift, from two in Start to six in Elite, so one damaged kit never cancels a booking.
- Safety. Safety bumpers for PULSAR protect players and equipment.
2. Game devices
- Respawns: at least two Basic first aid kits, one per team base.
- Objectives: digital flags for capture the flag and control games.
- Bigger scenarios: the Perimeter nuclear case (included in our Pro and Elite arena sets), mines, grenades and targets. Alphatag Arena supports 15 or more add-on devices.
3. Control, software and statistics
- A remote such as the Smart PRO remote v.2 to start games and change settings.
- A router for the wireless network the equipment runs on, such as the PRO router for the 10th and 11th generations.
- Arena software: AlphaTag Server for Windows with tablet and mobile apps, free with the equipment, and more than 20 built-in scenarios.
- A PC and screens (your own) for running the server and showing live statistics in the lobby.
4. Charging
- USB Type-C charging stations for the blasters.
- Spider chargers, which charge six game sets at once.
- A charging and storage area with enough sockets, kept dry and above freezing.
5. The arena itself
- Design: zoning, a layout that keeps games interesting and a flow from briefing to arena. We offer arena design priced per square metre, and equip arenas from one supplier.
- Build: walls, obstacles, lighting effects and a briefing area. Our article on building a laser tag arena covers planning.
6. People and routines
- At least one trained instructor per game: see instructor mistakes that cost customers and equipment.
- A daily routine: use our equipment checklist before every shift.
- Know where to get help: warranty, service and spare parts and firmware.
